About The Founder
Trained at a top-tier law firm, Sharon Givoni has spent almost 25 years as the principal of her own practice, championing the rights of designers across myriad disciplines—from fashion and graphics to interiors and landscapes. More than a lawyer, Sharon strives to empower creatives with the knowledge to confidently navigate their industries.
Her commitment to knowledge empowerment extends beyond her direct work with designers. She has served as the General Editor for three esteemed law journals, including the Australian Intellectual Property Law Bulletin, Internet Law Bulletin and Privacy Law Bulletin, playing a pivotal role in educating businesses and fellow legal professionals.
Her influence doesn’t stop at the written word. Sharon is a sought-after speaker at industry events, a regular contributor to design related publications, and a go-to expert in TV and radio discussions centred on legal matters in the area of intellectual property law.
Her highly regarded book, “Owning It – A Creative’s Guide to Copyright, Contracts, and the Law”, is keenly anticipated in its updated edition, with an upcoming online launch. Additionally, Sharon has lectured at institutions such as RMIT and Melbourne University, and has crafted courses to educate fellow lawyers in the realms of IP and creative law.
Beyond her professional sphere, Sharon cherishes moments with her family, finds solace in cycling, and ardently supports Melbourne’s boutique retail sector by doing plenty of online shopping!
With DesignWise, Sharon’s vision was always beyond just offering legal representation. Yes, it is about the law but also about a commitment to nurturing creativity and delivering results.
Whether it’s drafting an agreement, resolving a dispute, registering a trade mark, or addressing another legal concern, Sharon aims to help you transform your ‘ideas into assets’. She operates under the guiding principle of ‘Legal Ease, Not Legalese®’, ensuring that the law is presented in a way that is crystal clear and totally relatable.
